Urology is a surgical medical specialty that covers disorders that affect the male and female urinary apparatus. It also treats any disorders of the male genital apparatus. The urinary apparatus consists of the following structures: kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. The male genital apparatus consists of: testicles, prostate, seminal vesicles and penis.
Prostate cancer and blood in the urine (technically called hematuria), are processes which detected early can in many cases lead to a detection of the early stages of urinary cancer, where the correct treatment can in many cases mean the healing of the urinary tumours.
Disorders such as urinary lithiasis, erectile dysfunction and urine infections are all processes of a benign nature, however they bring with them multiple alterations, with damage to health, quality of life and in the case of erectile dysfunction, partnership problems. |
